Spool Pins

Spool pins are effective anti-pick measures that are added to a cylinder to enhance the physical security of the lock.

A “false shear line” is added to the lock with spool pins. This results in the top pins binding when picking or bumping open a lock. This is a very effective way to prevent unwanted entry by lock picking or bumping open of your lock.

6-Pins

One of the most effective anti-pick measures that can be made to your lock is to add a sixth pin to enhance its security.

Most residential grade locks come pinned to 5-pins when bought from the factory.

If the lock is properly equipped for an extra pin and compatible with the other locks we are rekeying, our locksmiths add it. Therefore, it is extremely difficult to open, and it is more resistant to bumping. This also reduces the chances that somebody else’s key will also open the lock.
